Minor Arcana - Cups

Page of Cups tarot card meaning

Page of Cups

What the card shows

A young man in a tunic printed with flowers stands by the sea, holding a cup in one hand. A small fish pokes its head out of the cup and looks at him, and he looks back at it with interest. Waves roll behind. It is a playful, slightly surprising picture.

Page of Cups upright

The Page of Cups is the card of a gentle surprise: a creative idea, a sweet message, an intuition that comes out of nowhere. Upright, it favours openness to feeling and imagination, even if what appears seems odd at first. It suits beginnings in art, love or friendship, approached with curiosity rather than plans.

Keywords: a creative idea, a sweet message, intuition, curiosity

Page of Cups reversed

Reversed, the fish stays hidden. It can describe a creative block, feelings expressed in a childish way, or being hurt too easily. It can also describe an idea that you are too embarrassed to share. The card asks you to take your own inner life a little more seriously, and a little less personally.

Keywords: emotional immaturity, a blocked idea, moodiness

In love

A sweet message, a new crush, a gentle and romantic gesture. The card suits tenderness. Reversed, it can describe moodiness or unrealistic expectations of romance.

At work

A creative opportunity, a new idea, work involving art or imagination. The card favours playing with possibilities. Reversed, it points at holding an idea back for fear of how it will be received.

When you are deciding

Pay attention to the hunch that surprises you. The Page of Cups suggests that the unexpected idea may be the right one, as long as you test it in practice.
