Seven of Wands tarot card meaning

What the card shows
A young man on a rise of ground swings a staff against six others pushing up at him from below. He holds the high ground and looks determined. Look at his feet: he is wearing a shoe on one foot and a boot on the other, as if he had to get up in a hurry.
Seven of Wands upright
The Seven of Wands is the card of holding your position. Something you have built or believe in is under pressure, and the card says it is worth defending. Upright, it favours conviction, courage and refusing to be talked out of what you know is right. You have the higher ground, even if it does not feel that way.
Keywords: standing your ground, defence, perseverance, conviction
Seven of Wands reversed
Reversed, the defence is wearing you out. You may be fighting on too many fronts, or defending a position you no longer believe in. It can also describe giving in to pressure too quickly. The card asks which ground is worth holding, so you can stop spending strength on the rest.
Keywords: overwhelm, giving in, defending too much
In love
Defending a relationship from outside pressure, or standing up for yourself within one. The card suits clear boundaries. Reversed, it can point at constant defensiveness, and asks whether every disagreement really needs fighting.
At work
Competition, criticism, protecting your idea or your position. The card favours confidence in your expertise. Reversed, it suggests choosing your battles, because an exhausted defender protects nothing well.
When you are deciding
If you are being pushed to change your mind, ask whether the pressure has given you new information or only more noise. The Seven of Wands supports holding firm when your reasons still stand.
