Minor Arcana - Pentacles

Ten of Pentacles tarot card meaning

Ten of Pentacles

What the card shows

An old man in a decorated robe sits by an archway, stroking two white dogs. Under the arch, a couple talk while a child holds on to one of the dogs. Ten coins are arranged across the scene, and a family coat of arms hangs on the wall. Several generations share one place.

Ten of Pentacles upright

The Ten of Pentacles is the card of what lasts beyond one lifetime: family, home, traditions and the security built over generations. Upright, it favours long-term thinking, putting down roots and caring for what will be passed on. It is less about wealth than about belonging somewhere, with people.

Keywords: legacy, family, long-term security, tradition

Ten of Pentacles reversed

Reversed, the foundations are shaky. It can describe family tensions, disputes over money or property, or a sense that the security you were promised is not there. The card asks what you want to build for yourself, separate from what you inherited.

Keywords: family conflict, instability, inheritance disputes

In love

Commitment, family life, building a home together. The card favours long-term plans. Reversed, it can describe family pressure on a relationship, or arguments about money and the future.

At work

A family business, an established institution, work that builds lasting value. The card favours long-term thinking. Reversed, it points at instability or disagreements about direction.

When you are deciding

Ask how each option looks in ten years, and who else it affects. The Ten of Pentacles favours choices that build lasting security for you and the people you care about.
