Minor Arcana - Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles tarot card meaning

Ace of Pentacles

What the card shows

A hand comes out of a cloud holding a large golden coin marked with a five-pointed star. Below lies a well-kept garden full of white lilies. A path runs through it to an arch in a hedge, and beyond the arch rise distant mountains. The gift is solid, and the way out of the garden is open.

Ace of Pentacles upright

The Ace of Pentacles is the start of something real and practical: a job offer, a project with resources behind it, a chance to build something that lasts. Upright, it favours planting seeds you can tend: a savings habit, a skill, a business idea with a sensible first step. It does not promise riches. It offers a sound beginning.

Keywords: opportunity, a solid start, prosperity, groundwork

Ace of Pentacles reversed

Reversed, the coin slips. It can describe an opportunity missed, a plan with weak foundations, or money and time spent without much thought. The card does not call it a disaster. It asks you to check the practical details before you build anything on them.

Keywords: a missed chance, poor planning, instability

In love

A relationship with solid foundations, or a practical step together such as moving in or sharing a goal. The card favours steadiness over drama. Reversed, it can describe material worries straining a relationship.

At work

A new job, a promising project, the resources to start something. The card favours careful planning from the first day. Reversed, it suggests checking the terms of an offer before accepting it.

When you are deciding

Ask which option gives you something solid to build on. The Ace of Pentacles favours practical, long-term choices over quick wins, and the first small step you can take today.
