The Star tarot card meaning

What the card shows
A naked woman kneels at the edge of a pool under a night sky, pouring water from two jugs: one into the pool, one onto the grass. A large eight-pointed star shines above her, ringed by seven smaller ones. A bird sits in a tree on the hill behind. After The Tower, this is the first quiet picture in the sequence.
The Star upright
The Star is the card of hope after difficulty. It does not promise that everything is fixed. It describes the calm that comes once the worst is over, when you can breathe again and start to imagine what comes next. Upright, it favours rest, openness and small acts of renewal. It suggests that you are allowed to feel hopeful, even before you have proof.
Keywords: hope, renewal, calm, rest
The Star reversed
Reversed, hope is harder to find. It can describe discouragement after a long effort, or a feeling of being cut off from whatever usually restores you. The card does not argue with the feeling. It suggests looking for one small source of light, such as a walk, a friend or a familiar song, and returning to it before asking yourself to feel optimistic.
Keywords: discouragement, lost faith, disconnection
In love
In love, The Star describes gentleness, trust rebuilt and an openness to someone new after a hard time. It suits honest, hopeful beginnings. Reversed, it can point at expecting too little, and asks whether past hurt is making you close a door too early.
At work
At work, this card favours vision, creativity and work that feels meaningful. It suits a fresh start after a setback. Reversed, it can describe losing sight of why you do the job at all, and suggests reconnecting with what drew you to it.
When you are deciding
When deciding, The Star asks which option you feel hopeful about. Hope is not proof, but it counts. If every option feels bleak, the card suggests resting before choosing, because exhaustion makes all paths look alike.
